Hi Oxygen fans,
Today I have a special video workout for you. This is from the cardio showdown in the Novemberissue that's on stands now. I love this workout and couldn't help but show you these moves in motion. I use a ton of different angles and planes of motion so you really get a full body, heart pumping workout. I was actually a bit sore after filming it! One of the best parts of my job is working with people from all walks of life. I have to admit, prior to being a trainer on The Biggest Loser, I rarely worked with people outside of the gym. Most of the people I worked with were in shape looking to get in REALLY good shape and I was always in the gym. Needless to say, as a trainer on The Biggest Loser, I not only found a new passion for helping people that were very out of shape but I also discovered how many people have a fear of the gym. I spent a lot of time training people outside, at home, on the beach, and at parks. While I absolutely love to train outside, and love the results of using the environment as your gym, there are some major benefits to training in a gym.

I went to the Olympia in Las Vegas last weekend and came home all fired up! It's so great to be surrounded by athletes that have worked so hard to reach their goals. It was the first time I'd seen the Bikini and WOW, I'm going to be working on my glutes after seeing all those tight little buns!! It was fun to see the fitness gals, I love the routines as it brings back the good ol days when I competed. I have such a respect for how much work goes into every little leap, pushup, and flip! The figure gals were beautiful, I'd hate to have to judge them.

Strong vs Skinny

Today I want to talk to you all about STRONG vs Skinny! There is such a huge difference between the two yet I feel like our culture of looking at skinny models can really mess with our heads. I won't lie, it took me a long time to figure out that the only reason models are so skinny is because they are basically trying to be "hangers" for the clothes they are modelling. Skinny does not always look good in a sports bra and shorts! Simply put, skinny looks good in clothes, strong looks good naked! I want to encourage all of you that are striving to be fit, to focus on being STRONG and stop focusing on skinny. Trust me when I tell you having a great body IS a side effect of being strong!

I'm so excited for the big launch of Oxygen's first interactive issue! Download it here. Not to date myself or anything, but I remember when the first issue of Oxygen came out. I was just starting my fitness career and Oxygen became by bible early on. I could hardly wait for each new issue and I never threw one out.
