The Gym Life

I’m proud to say I’ve started 2012 off on the right foot where fitness is concerned. My eating habits have been good, I’ve even started getting up a little bit earlier to make time for a good breakfast. This time of year I usually try to stay under the covers as long as I possibly can.
I’ve also tested out a “clean” dessert recipe to try and satisfy my sweet cravings which seem to be more relentless than ever. And my time in the gym has been consistent and rewarding. I’ve gone back to using our company gym at lunch hour (again, can’t seem to get out of bed in the morning) and feel good about trying new moves, new machines and just freshening things up in general.
And after at least a one-year hiatus (pause for reaction), I had my first protein shake, courtesy of our Nutrition Editor, Helen Vong, after my leg workout today. The key ingredients were dragon fruit and coconut water, and it was a tasty treat. Stay tuned for the whole recipe in an upcoming issue.
I’m pretty sure this hot streak will continue on, especially with spring right around the corner (according to Wiarton Willy anyway). Of course it couldn’t be my upcoming nuptials in June that is the driving force behind my dedication. But whatever the reason, it feels good to start the new year off right.
P.S. The March issue of Oxygen just landed on my desk. The cover looks amazing!
Here - a shot of me and my shake creator Helen Vong.
