• Keeping Your Body Alkaline

What is alkaline? I had heard of this word in the past but never really paid close attention to what this meant. I did a little research and found out that keeping your body slightly alkaline is important to your health in preventing disease and keeping healthy. If your body is acidic which is the exact opposite of alkaline, you may have low energy, pains and aches, mood swings, worrying and fears, poor sleep or being over weight. This doesn’t sound fun and sounds a lot like PMS.

Here are a few ways to keeping yourself alkaline:

    • Hydrate: Our bodies generate acid so it’s important to flush this acid out by drinking alkaline water.
    • Eat lot of greens: Greens contain chlorophyll which increases your body’s alkalinity. Eat greens with every meal and it’s also great for your hair, skin, and nails.
    • Don’t worry: Stress and negative emotions causes premature aging, weight gain, toxicity and created the perfect environment for disease to develop in your body.  Being stressed out could even lead to cancer, heart disease, or diabetes.  It’s amazing how sensitive our bodies are.

A lot of the water we purchase at the grocery story is acidic because it has been sitting in their plastic containers for awhile. Since I drink a lot of bottled water this concernced me so I found out that adding apple cider vinegar and fresh squeezed lime juice helps make water more alkaline. Since this discovery, I’ve been adding ½ cup of apple cider vinegar and half a lime to my gallon of water each day.

Keeping your body alkaline is important to your health. Hopefully we can be more mindful now of what we put in our bodies and stick to thinking positive thoughts only.

    With love and fitness, Natalie.
