Meet Tiffani Bachus, a fitness competitor, nutritionist, personal trainer and a mother of three. Just a few years ago, she opted to go gluten free, lost nearly 40 pounds and turned her life around.
Her Biggest Obstacle
“As a busy mom, I never felt like I had enough time to devote to working out and eating healthy,” says the 39-year-old cover girl. Not making time to take care of herself took its toll. Her husband was noticing that she was feeling down; despite her joy as a mother, she wasn’t happy with her weight. She realized she had to put herself first and decided to hire a personal trainer.
Transformation Tools
What worked for Tiffani – and what she recommends to everyone – was developing a workout schedule, keeping an exercise log and food journal, and evaluating her progress, both weekly and monthly. Finally, tweak your program as needed. “Setting realistic goals is critical,” says Tiffani. And that applies to anyone – whether you’re aiming to take first in a physique contest or want to shrink a few dress sizes.
Going Gluten Free
One of the most important changes she made during her fitness journey was her decision to go mostly gluten free. With one out of 133 Americans sensitive to gluten, she wasn’t alone. But that decision to eliminate gluten foods, coupled with her newfound energy, acted as a potent impetus for lifelong change.
Tiffani’s Top Tip
You’ll need to make a mental shift before a physical transformation can take place. “Visualize yourself as already having the body you want. Positive mental imagery is the key to making lasting change.”
