I grew up in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
I decided to compete in fitness because my sister convinced
me to do it. I continued competing because I loved it and it gave me motivation
to better myself, inside and out.
My first fitness competition was in Lafayette, Louisiana.
There were five competitors. I took first place.
I plan to compete again this year hopefully at
a Fitness International event and at the Fitness America Nationals.
I love training my glutes and abs. I seem to work the hardest
on these muscles I always want to improve them.
I hate training my biceps. They’re definitely my
weakest body part, and I struggle the most with training them.
I’d love to work out with David Beckham for
obvious reasons but also because he is an amazing athlete with a
cool, confident attitude and style.
My best feature is my smile. People who know me know I
smile and laugh all the time. In pictures and on stage I am always more
comfortable with a big smile on my face.
If I wasn’t a personal trainer and fitness competitor,
I’d love to work behind the scenes on television, creating and choreographing
videos and television shows.
If I won a million dollars I’d buy the perfect house
designed just for my daughter, Brooke. Everything would be wheelchair accessible
with all the latest and greatest technology to make her life easier and
more convenient.
Outside the gym, I spend quality time with my daughter.
We’re always on the go shopping, seeing movies, traveling
and playing outdoors.
My favorite food is anything my mom cooks. There’s
something so comforting about eating a meal at mom’s house.
My favorite cookbook is The Holly Clegg Trim & Terrific
Cookbook (Running Press, 2002). It has more than 500 recipes that are easy,
healthy and very tasty. It is a cookbook that satisfies the whole family
and stays within your diet needs.
I love listening to “chill” music like Lenny
Kravitz, Elton John or Jimmy Buffet.
If I could change women’s eating habits, I’d
put more focus on their health than on weight loss. Going from one crash
diet to the next sets women up for more weight gain and problems down the
line.
My favorite dining spot is a local Japanese restaurant
called Koto, in Baton Rouge. I’m a sushi lover.
I never leave home without an extra meal snack
or protein bar just in case. I never know when my schedule will
get crazy and this keeps me from going to the vending machine or a fast
food restaurant. And I’d never leave home without putting sunscreen
on my face. I’m all about antiaging. |
