Type of competitor:
1998 IFBB Fitness Olympia Champion/IFBB Pro Figure

My astrological sign is Scorpio

I grew up in Castroville, TX

In high school I played volleyball and ran sprints in track. Even though I was short, I was quite fast in the 100m hurdles, winning many of my races using three strides only in between each hurdle.

My first fitness competition was Arizona, in September of 1991. I started weight training in January of that year and decided I wanted to compete. That was the closest contest to Texas (at the time) and it gave me enough time to prepare. NPC was not available way back then. I competed in the Fitness USA Arizona and placed first. (There were only two of us in the competition!)

I love training my legs and shoulders.

I hate training my back and arms.

I’d love to work out with Rachel McLish. She is a timeless beauty and icon in the sport. Seems her name is the most known out there even after everyone else and all the years she hasn’t competed!

The hardest event I’ve had to train for was any of the fitness competitions I competed in for eight-plus years. The routines were killer on me. I am not a gymnast from childhood, so I had to learn all the different strength moves, transitions, counts, spots, pointed toes and stretch, stretch, stretch and smile while doing all these things. I can still hear my choreographer, Lisa Nunziella- Hockley yelling at “Spot, point, smile!”

One of my biggest pet peeve is lack of discipline to work hard and be committed to something.

My favorite book is anything fictional and funny that involves the troubles of a typical female trying to live and make it in the world. Makes cardio and plane rides go by faster!

If I weren’t a fitness representative, I’d be an Equestrian Rider and horse trainer.

For breakfast I ate four egg whites, one yolk, green peppers, onions and some cheddar cheese. Yummy!

Keep an eye out for me on the new BSN ads.
