In the last year Lindsay Messina, born and raised in Westchester County, New York, has landed our cover three times, won her category at Fitness America in Las Vegas, launched a workout plan called Body by Lindsay and is now playing host at Fitness America Miami and again in Vegas this fall. Here’s the scoop!
WORKING OUT
Held three times a week, if you were to show up at a Body by Lindsay workshop, this is what you’d do:
Monday: Cardio boot camp, functional training, plyometrics. “This class is great for weight loss, conditioning and toning,” says Lindsay. “No weights needed because the use of your own body weight and weekly changes to the routine are what gets the results.”
Wednesday: Resistance band body sculpt. “This class is all about toning and tightening your trouble areas,” says Lindsay. “After you leave this class you’ll feel energized!”
Friday: Combo fusion class. “We finish the week up strong,” Lindsay says, “with boot camp, circuit training, resistance bands, medicine balls, BOSU balls…you name it we will have it in our class!”
DIG IN!
This 2008 Fitness America champ says she’s not quitting the competition circuit – she’s just enjoying it from a different angle these days. Here’s what Lindsay Messina loves to eat between shows when she’s experimenting in the kitchen.
LINDSAY MESSINA’S EGG WHITE FRITTATA
• 12 egg whites
• 1/2 onion
• Pre-cooked bell peppers, sweet potato, asparagus, string beans (“Big time saver…cook a bunch of vegetables ahead of time and store them in the fridge,” she says.)
• Pre-cooked chicken breast (optional)
• Black pepper, to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix all ingredients into a bowl. Using a non-stick muffin pan, fill each well 3/4-full with the mixture. Bake until golden brown or until it passes the fork test – if the fork comes out dry, you’re done! Enjoy warm or cold – it’s a great snack, too!
