Yami Mufdi

Yami Mufdi is a certified personal trainer, certified yoga instructor and holistic wellness coach living in Houston, TX. Her journey through fitness was a long one, beginning when she moved to NYC to pursue modeling.

Yami recalls being put down, by agency after agency, for her body. "It seemed like everywhere I went, my body was THE PROBLEM," Mufdi says. "So what did I do? I tried to fix it and tried every diet in the book. The ‘no-carb’, ’Atkins’, ’all protein’, ’raw diet’... you name it, I tried it." The dieting didn't work, and the modeling agencies she encountered were never truly accepting of her.

Fast forward about three years, Yami began experimenting with the weights and in June of 2012, she completed a 6-week fitness challenge. "I was convinced that this was the time I would make a difference in my life," Mufdi said. "I was sick of all the yo-yo dieting and not having a healthy relationship with food that it was beginning to go towards depression." She recalls this being a pivotal point in her life where her mentality totally shifted. She cared more about being a strong and healthy woman — for herself.

Today, Yami shares her life on social media with the goal of impacting, inspiring and helping as many people as she can. "I don’t know where this journey will take me," she said. "But, I hope that in the process of finding out, I am able to inspire and help as many as I can."

What keeps you motivated?

Being able to impact as many women as I possibly can.

Why do you love to sweat? 

Simply put, it makes me feel like a bada$$. I feel empowered and like I can take on the world! I feel like a completely different woman! 

What words do you live by? 

"For we walk by faith, not by sight."

What makes you a kick-a$$ Oxygen Ambassador?

The fact that I want to be a real-life example for women out in the world and I want to showcase that yes, it is possible to workout, be healthy and still enjoy a cookie. Or doughnut. #relatable

Is there anything else you would like to share?

If there's one thing I want to leave you with is this: I've always wanted to model but now, first and foremost, I just want to be a role model.
