However, according to a study published in the journal Obesity, self-weighing can help prevent holiday weight gain: Study participants who weighed themselves on a daily basis either maintained or lost weight during the holidays, while those who did not weigh themselves gained some pounds. Give it a try, just make sure you weigh yourself on the same scale at the same time every day for the most accurate readings.
