Figure International
With 2012’s Figure International champ, Nicole Wilkins, absent from 2013’s bejeweled-bikini line-up, it was all but assumed that her runner up, Erin Stern, would easily take the title. But following the announcement of Erin’s name during the final’s top-six standings, audible gasps filled Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium in Columbus, Ohio, in place of applause: she had taken not first, not second, but third.
In the biggest upset of the night, Heather Dees and Candice Keene took second and first, respectively. All three physiques were so similar in symmetry and tone, and the ladies who sported them so close in grace and poise, that the general opinion was that the top three ladies could have been put in any order.

After years of narrowly missing first place in the Fitness International cateogry, Tanji Johnson finally claimed her place at the top on the evening of March 1st at Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium in Columbus, Ohio. Coming out first and warming up the crowd in a spectacular way, Tanji flipped and tumbled across the stage to an energetic soundtrack of Janet Jackson tunes. Second place was awarded to crowd favorite Oksana Grishina, who wowed with a Joker-themed routine, complete with mask, face paint, and ending with an over-the-shoulder snarl that brought the house down. Rounding out the top three, Bethany Cisternino’s sweet-as-pie cheerleader costume perfectly matched her peppy music and choreography, which included many impressive walking handstands.

Bikini International
After taking the runner-up spot in the Bikini International category in 2012, India Paulino had her eye on number one this time around. While the top three contestants were matched in onstage energy–which shone through their posing and confident walk–India’s high, tight glutes surely sealed her first-place win. Nathalia Melo placed in a close second, followed by Nicole Nagrani, who came in third again this year.
