With hotels selling out months in advance, not an empty taxicab in all of Columbus, and about 180,000 sports fans walking through the doors over the weekend, it’s clear that the 2011 Arnold Sports Festival was the biggest and best ever. It dwarfs every other health and fitness event in the world, and like the founder himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger, shows no signs of slowing down. In its 23rd year, mainstay events continue to attract the top athletes and competitors from around the globe, while newer events, like the first-ever Film Festival, draw even more fitness enthusiasts of all ages each year.
New to the Festival’s competition front this year was the highly anticipated IFBB Bikini professional show, the Bikini International. The IFBB has certainly hit a home run with this new division.
The first Bikini International was won by the IFBB’s youngest Bikini pro, 19-year-old Nicole Nagrani. As for the Figure International, it was a fierce battle between Ms. Figure Olympia 2010, Erin Stern, and reigning Figure International champ, Nicole Wilkins. In the Fitness International competition, 2010 and Olympia champ, Adela Garcia, was challenged by Tanji Johnson and Trish Warren, but still came out on top.
