I’m not sure if you can relate, but the few times I’ve gotten to the gym and realized I’ve forgotten my headphones or they’ve run out of battery midway through a set, it has completely ruined my workout. Yes, that’s how important music is to my routine.

When it comes to my workouts, music plays one of the biggest roles in the outcome of my training. To me, music is such a big part of working out because I somehow lose myself in the music, yet it also helps me concentrate on what I’m doing.

My routine begins at the house, where I “pregame” by starting my playlist while I’m putting on my gym clothes. I keep listening while I’m having my preworkout shake or snack. I continue to listen to it while in the car, and then I’m all pumped up and in the right head space by the time I get to the gym.

I’m also a creature of habit when it comes to my music selection. When I’m prepping for an event or Olympia, I have a habit of playing the same playlist every single day of training. I become so familiar with it that it navigates me through my workout — it helps keep me motivated and hyped about reaching my goals.
