Oxygen Magazine Review
At first glance, this strap-and-pulley system appears to be akin to a TRX. However, a little playing around and a quick chat with David Faassen, president and COO of Lebert Fitness, proves otherwise.
This system was inspired by martial arts training, for instance the skill of punching: With a punch, you train to have a powerful, explosive outward drive with your arm/fist for optimal impact, but martial artists also train for quick recoil — for example, bringing their arm back as fast as possible in order to deliver another punch with maximum force, either with the same arm or the opposite arm.
This unilateral action is what inspired the system design: a long nylon strap with a handle on either end that runs through a “friction” ring. The user anchors the system to a doorway, then uses the handles and his or her bodyweight to perform a litany of movements. (You also can take the system off the doorway and team up to do some partner training.) You can perform dynamic movements in all directions such as punching, alternating swimmers, speedskaters and plyometric jumps. You also can do several strength moves such as rows, biceps curls and squats, which you execute much in the same way as you would using a TRX.
In terms of the high-intensity interval training aspect of the product, the push-pull action of the strap through the ring allows for several applications. Back to our punching example: If you face the door/anchor, you can practice your punch recoil. If you face away from the door/anchor, you can practice the punch itself. The faster and harder you pull, the harder your muscles work and the more you feel the “burn,” so to speak.
Is the HIIT System perfect? Of course not, nothing is. While there are some workout videos on the Lebert website, I wished for a more extensive, better organized library. And it would behoove the designers to add extra straps to the handles (along the same design lines as the TRX) so you can loop your feet/heels in the handles and do mountain climbers or bridges and the like. (Then again, it’s about half the cost of a TRX system, and you can do many of the same moves with this product as you can with a TRX.)
Overall, the Lebert HIIT System is easy to use and lightweight, and offers a great option for adding high intensity unilateral training and variety to your home workout.

“I am a big fan of this product! I am a competitive triathlete and with the current closure of swimming pools and gyms, I have no option to go about my upper body strength training to engage my core. Running and biking focuses on the lower body and I witnessed my core, arm and back strength decreasing as I am not able to swim during the pandemic. Therefore, I love the Lebert HIIT System as it gives me the opportunity to work on these muscles on a regular basis. It is such an easy setup and I love to use this product together with my training partner as we can take turns and are having a great time doing it.”

“The Lebert HIIT System could not have come at a better time in my life. Since COVID-19 hit I have not been able to get to the gym, and besides the few dumbbells and my Lebert Equalizers, I really needed some more variety in my workout. This system is compact and easy to use anywhere. The set up was simple and the ability to set up indoors or out is a huge plus. The strong Velcro strap felt secure and easily held me while I performed each exercise. My favorite part was the ability to do unilateral movements and at the same time, still work all my stabilizers/core muscles. I am so excited to add the Lebert HIIT System to my home workouts, because the reality is my home is my new gym.”
